Bouldering Skills
LEVEL: BEGINNER
After completing our Bouldering Skills class, you will have the skills needed to begin a regular bouldering routine. You will learn how to properly fall onto a padded floor, warm up for and structure a proper bouldering session, and identify and practice skills. You will also learn about bouldering terminology and proper etiquette. We will help you overcome the social barriers to climbing and understand how climbers work together while bouldering.
Bouldering relies on padded flooring rather than ropes and harnesses for protection. Climbers generally only climb between 10 and 15 feet high. For that reason, no additional equipment other than the padded floor is needed. This class is ideal for climbers who are new to the sport and want to establish a dependable foundation of skills.

Do club memberships grant access to both locations?
Yes! Your membership includes access to the Steel Shop in St. Charles and the Power Plant in St. Louis.
How do I start a climbing club at my school?
Start by completing our contact form below. Clubs are typically initiated by student leadership, often with a teacher’s or campus ambassador’s guidance.
Does Climb So iLL help with starting a club?
We can provide marketing support to help promote your club, free climbing nights to encourage participation, and booths for club fairs to help raise awareness. We want to work together so your climbing club has a successful start and ongoing support.
How do I fund my climbing club?
The most common way of funding a new climbing club is through a discounted membership for club members. Many of our clubs eventually gain recognition as official campus organizations. This recognition may lead to opportunities for school funding, equipment support, and a stipend for club activities.
Do other clubs participate at Climb So iLL?
We are proud to collaborate with several schools in the Greater St. Louis Area, supporting new and established climbing clubs at high schools and universities.
Do climbing clubs require a minimum number of members?
Typically, we require a minimum of 15 participants to start a climbing club and provide a solid foundation for club activities. However, we understand that clubs may take time to grow and develop. We are open to working with you to create a plan that aligns with your club’s goals, even if you initially have fewer than 15 members.
Is tax included in the membership price?
As a registered climbing club affiliated with your school, you may be eligible to utilize the school’s tax-exempt form for certain club-related purchases, such as equipment, supplies, memberships, or other items needed for club activities. We recommend checking with your school’s administration or finance department to confirm the availability and proper usage of the tax-exempt form for your climbing club.
